it’s in the hands

I want to love the Fuji X100, and it’s true it has things about it that I really love. But I have had it for awhile now and I still don’t feel really comfortable with it. The controls aren’t intuitive to my fingers and I’m not hitting my focus and what I want to with it. Partially I think I have DSLR expectations, things I am used to that I shouldn’t expect out of a camera this small. Portraits are where I feel I really fall short with this thing. Still it is fun to play with, even if I’m not quite getting it yet. This particular shot for instance the camera focused on his hands, yet I was aiming for the face. To my left a friend held a Nikon SB800 flash attached to the Fuji with a TTL cord, she also held by iPhone that was using one of those flashlight apps to shine enough light on his face in order for the AF to lock in. Apparently it was enough to lock in on the hands. At this size it’s not really noticeable, but blown up it’s very apparent.
