My second little photo adventure with Kera was on a chilly (for San Diego) day at the Salk Institute in La Jolla. Unfortunately for us the main portion of the grounds were closed off, so these photos were taken around the perimeter. Still an interesting place to shoot at even if you’re stuck to the outskirts. The last shot of the day, in the sunlight completely personifies Kera in California. When I first talked to Kera about photographing her I told her my main goal was to give her something she couldn’t do in a self portrait – a look that couldn’t be achieved where she lives. Even though our time was short, I feel like I succeeded here. The warmth of that last photo – that is truly Kera. I literally cannot wait to photograph her again.
